Arriving at Archerfield at 8:00 am, we meet as a group at the Archerfield historic passenger terminal and have a quick safety presentation. In no time at all, we have everyone aboard the aircraft and are on the way to our first destination.

The first stop on the tour is Kingaroy. Our transport meets us at the airport for the bus ride to the Bunya Mountains National Park. We view the ancient Bunya Pines by taking a stroll along the scenic walk (4km or 2km options). We lunch at Poppies on the Hill Cafe before returning to Kingaroy to continue our journey.

After lunch we return to our plane for the rest of the flight to Wallaroo. Have your cameras ready for the scenery of the Acadia valley. The station of Wallaroo is located 60 minutes south of Carnarvon Gorge. Covering 73,000hectares in size you will discover it has some amazing scenery and some hidden surprises. On arrival we meet our hosts from Wallaroo and your Boobook tour guides for the next couple of days. Our first stop at Wallaroo is the Axe factory and an introduction to aboriginal life in the area. We return to our accommodation for a sumptuous dinner. After dinner you can choose to join in a spotlight walk to view local wildlife.

Early start today as we head to Carnarvon Gorge. You had a small taste of the cliffs yesterday on your arrival into Wallaroo, today you see more of the rugged ranges of Queensland's central highlands which include Carnarvon Gorge. The Gorge features towering sandstone cliffs, vibrantly coloured side gorges, diverse flora and fauna and Aboriginal rock art. We start our journey with the Nature Trail 1.5Kmreturn , followed by the rock pool (600m), swimming is optional. Mickey Creek Track (3km return) is an optional excursion following lunch. We arrive back at Wallaroo in time for dinner and a campfire yarn.

Skull Mountain stroll to start the day and work out any kinks from yesterday followed by Breakfast. Today we tour the Wallaroo property by 4WD and will see Date Rock, Cycad Gorge/Arch Rock, Arcadia Valley Lookout, Rainbow Cave and sunset drinks at The Sphinx. It is a full day of some amazing sights and insights into cattle raising and running a station like Wallaroo.

We are up early this morning as we pack up and head for our plane. We fly along the Carnarvon range and get a birds eye view of these great cliffs as we head north. Fuel stop in Emerald and another in Hughenden (yes it’s a long way north) we head to the past volcanic area of Undara. The lava tubes here are unique, forming some of the largest tubes in the world. Who knew. Open woodlands give way to the vast open spaces of the savanna. Here in the Undara Volcanic National Park, rich volcanic basalt soils, covered in a sea of seasonal grasses, conceal the Undara lava tubes. ‘Undara’ is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘long way’.

The park protects one of the longest lava tube cave systems in the world. About 190,000 years ago, a large volcano erupted violently, spewing molten lava over the surrounding landscape. The lava flowed rapidly down a dry riverbed. The top, outer-layer cooled and formed a crust, while the molten lava below drained outwards, leaving behind a series of hollow tubes.While here we explore 2 such caves starting with the Archway (about 200 steps), an unique introduction to all aspects of lava tubes. This evening we visit another cave to experience the wildlife that use the caves as home!
The accommodation in Undara is unique as well, beautifully restored, turn of the century, railway carriages.

We start today with a traditional country breakfast by the fire then back to the plane for a short flight to Forsayth.

Notice how the landscape changes as you fly overhead. After landing in Forsayth we travel by coach to Cobbold Gorge and experience just a little bit of those Australian road corrugations you will have heard about. Makes you glad you are flying most of the way! We have a packed afternoon, camera is a must, with a walking tour of Cobbold gorge followed by a water tour of the gorge.
Returning to camp we finish the day with a helicopter tour of the gorge and surrounding area complete with sunset drinks.

After breakfast we begin our journey back to the coast retracing our steps back to Forsayth and our plane. Today is a big flying day south along the coast to Rockhampton. We stop here to visit the Capricorn Caves just north of Rocky.

The Cathedral Cave Tour will leave you with lasting memories of ancient geological history, early explorers, the wonders of wildlife and special cave acoustics. Walkways and ramps make this tour easily accessible, enclosed shoes are recommended. We lunch at the caves before returning to the plane and the last leg to Fraser Island. Be on the lookout for whales in the waters around Hervey Bay. We land at Wanggoolba Creek airstrip and transfer to the Kingfisher Bay Resort. Dinner tonight is “bush tucker infused”!

4WD Island tour today seeing all of the iconic sights of Fraser Island including: gorgeous Lake McKenzie, Central Station and Wanggoolba Creek, Pile Valley’s awe-inspiring Satinay and Brush Box forests, 75 Mile Beach's famous highway, the Maheno shipwreck and the coloured sands of The Pinnacles, the relaxing fresh waters of Eli Creek (swimming optional). We finish with sunset drinks and can reminisce on the many and varied natural treasures you have seen over the last 7 days.

Another delicious breakfast and maybe time for a beach stroll or just time to sit and view the waters of Hervey Bay before we head for home.

After the last week of highlights going home day seems such a let down!
Your trip is not quite done yet as there is still some spectacular scenery to see. Have that camera ready for the Fraser coastline and the sandy straits. Then the old volcanic peaks of the Glasshouse Mountains to fly over and finally Brisbane City skyline to fly past before your arrival at Archerfield.
